Terms of Service
Last updated: September 24, 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Yalex (“Yalex,” “we,” “us”) governing your use of the Yalex AI mathematics tutoring platform, including the website, adaptive practice, assessments, AI tutor, forum, and materials (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.
1. About the Service; beta status
Yalex is an adaptive training platform for Canadian contest mathematics, including preparation for contests such as Pascal, Cayley, Fermat, and Euclid and the Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge. It is not a school curriculum, a teacher, and not a substitute for classroom instruction.
The Service is currently offered as a free beta. During beta we may add, change, pause, or remove features, and availability may be interrupted. We do not charge for the Service during beta. Any future paid plans will be offered under separate terms posted at that time, and we will not charge you without your prior consent.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf.
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep it current.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your credentials confidential. Do not share your account.
- One account per person. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. Educational purpose; no guarantee of results
Yalex provides practice, assessment, and explanatory content to help you improve at contest mathematics. Outcomes depend on your effort, background, and many factors outside our control. We do not guarantee any score, ranking, qualification, or admission result, and nothing in the Service is professional, legal, or financial advice.
4. Artificial intelligence content
Explanations, solutions, and tutor replies are generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated reasoning. Use them as study aids, verify important steps, and report material errors to us. AI output is provided “as is” without warranty of accuracy.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service during a live contest or examination unless the contest organizer expressly permits it;
- Scrape, copy, redistribute, or resell the problem bank, notes, solutions, or other Service content, or build a competing product from it;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or model prompts of the Service, except where law permits;
- Share, sell, or transfer your account credentials, or use another person's account;
- Post unlawful, harassing, threatening, defamatory, or infringing content, or personal information of others, in the forum or tutor;
- Introduce malware, automate access in ways that burden the Service, or interfere with its operation or security;
- Misrepresent your identity, level, or results, or attempt to manipulate assessment outcomes.
6. Your content
You own the content you submit (forum posts, replies, messages to the tutor). You grant Yalex a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, and process that content solely to operate and provide the Service — for example, showing your forum post to other users, or sending your tutor message to an AI provider to generate a reply. You are responsible for your content and for having the rights to submit it. We may remove content that violates these Terms or law.
7. Our content and intellectual property
The Service, its software, design, problem bank, notes, mastery system, and trademarks are owned by Yalex or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own study during the term of these Terms. No other rights are granted.
8. Community conduct
The forum is a shared study space. Be respectful and stay on topic. We may moderate, edit, or remove posts and may suspend forum access for repeated violations. Public posts are visible to other users; do not post personal information.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access, with notice where practical, if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if the Service is discontinued. Sections concerning intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and governing law survive termination.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Yalex will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or opportunities, arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify Yalex against third-party claims arising from your violation of these Terms, your content, or your misuse of the Service, except to the extent the claim arises from our own misconduct.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version. For material changes we will provide notice in the Service before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of British Columbia have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except where consumer-protection law in your province provides otherwise.
15. General
- If any provision is unenforceable, it is modified to the minimum extent necessary and the remainder stays in effect.
- These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about their subject matter.
- You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a business transfer.
- Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it.
